Men have always been very interested in crystals and stones, both for their intrinsic beauty and for their peculiarities.
The word “crystal” comes from the Greek κρύσταλλος – krýstallos which means ice, due to the belief that they were pieces of indissoluble ice.
But what is a crystal? It is a solid structure made up of atoms, molecules or ions having a geometrically regular arrangement, which is repeated indefinitely in three spatial dimensions, called a crystalline lattice. Today we will consider a stone much loved for its countless properties: Amethyst.
Amethyst is a purple colored quartz. This violet stone belongs to the crystalline quartz family and owes its color to the presence of the crystalline lattice with traces of iron. The tone can be cold and bluish or reddish sometimes referred to as "raspberry", it can therefore vary from a light lilac to a deep and intense royal purple.
The lithogenic process is primary, while the crystalline system is the trigonal one.
The name Amethyst derives from Amethystos which means "not drunk", in fact it is the stone associated with mental clarity and the VI chakra (third eye).
It instills calm, positivity and a serene detachment from events and things.
It gives wisdom, awareness and helps not to be overwhelmed by too strong emotions.
It is useful for anxious people who act on impulse without thinking.
The color purple brings back spirituality, in fact it connects us with our highest levels of consciousness. Amethyst is a stone that facilitates meditation and introspection.
It has a real harmonizing spirit.
It is possible to find it on the market in many forms, both as a tumbled stone and as a geode or druse. Furthermore, it lends itself to being worn as a necklace, in fact it is a stone widely used in jewelery both for its beauty and its ductility.
