CHLOROPHYLL: green blood.

Chlorophyll is present throughout the plant world. Its name derives from Greek and means: χλωρός, chloros = green and φύλλον, phyllon = leaf.

It is the pigment present in the green parts of plants that gives the green color to the leaves.

Its function is to absorb the sunlight necessary for chlorophyll photosynthesis, a vital process for both plant life and man himself.

Chlorophyll has a structure similar to human hemoglobin, in fact, both are made up of a network of molecules grouped around a single molecule, which in the case of chlorophyll is Magnesium, while in the case of hemoglobin it is Iron. Precisely for this reason it is also called "green blood" and can be considered an excellent ally in case of anemia.

Anemia is a condition that occurs when the number of red blood cells is insufficient to transport the necessary oxygen to the various tissues and organs of the body.

There are various forms of anemia, each caused by different factors, and the level of severity of this disorder can also vary greatly.

It is considered a true regenerator for cells, as it helps to slow down the aging process and therefore can be considered anti-aging.

It is also an excellent tonic for the body, useful in case of moments of tiredness, weakness and asthenia. Furthermore, by bringing oxygen to the cells, it manages to reduce acidosis in the body, due to an incorrect diet, which, for example, excludes the adequate consumption of vegetables, especially green leafy ones.

It has a "deodorant" power, in fact it reduces body odors such as bad breath, flatulence, sweat, urine and menstrual odors.

In a study published in the National Library of Medicine of the United States National Institutes of Health, the ability of chlorophyll to extend lifespan was studied. The analysis was conducted on some types of worms and showed that those that took chlorophyll developed greater longevity due to antioxidant reactivity. Furthermore, through this study, the bioavailability of chlorophyll was clarified and it follows that it has beneficial effects in improving human health and preventing diseases.

Chlorophyll can also be very useful for athletes because it improves performance, resistance to effort and reduces recovery times. A recent study has shown that chlorophyll is able to increase some variables relating to platelets and therefore this seems to positively influence sports performance. However, the role of platelets is still being studied. Endurance athletes took an alcoholic extract of magnesium chlorophyll daily for 120 days (Laboratorio Erboristico Di Leo srl, Anzola dell'Emilia, Bologna). The study was conducted triple-blind with placebo on participants randomly divided into two groups. (Effects of prolonged intake of dietary chlorophyll by endurance athletes randomized clinical trial - Sport & Medicine July-September 2016).
